Woven Look Matted Wood Frame Tutorial

Woven Look Matted Wood Frame Tutorial

This was created in PSP 4. I haven't upgraded yet and
like my version so much that I don't know if I want to :-)

Open photo or image you wish to frame. Resize if needed.

Create two custom colors:
Dark gold R89 G79 B43 Set this as foreground color
Light gold R187 G 170 B114 set this as background color

The reason I said set these above as custom colors is
that they are used extensively in gold frames tutorials
all over the web. I keep them in my custom colors for
just that reason.

At the top of PSP window,
select Image--> Add borders-->Symmetric '5'-->Click ok

With magic wand, select that border

Add new color as foreground color R215 G205 B172

Using spray can -
size 50 - round - opacity 101 - pattern 'weave'
go around selected border once

With border still selected,
click Image -->Drop Shadow Color Black
Opacity 150 Blur 20 H2 V2--> Click ok

Drop shadow again with same settings except use H-2 and V-2

Buttonize the image using the buttonize feature
or a plugin; I use AFH Button Maker Square

Deselect border by using the magic wand and right click

With dark gold as bg color;
Image-->Add Border-->'10' symmetric

With magic wand tool, select that border

With light gold color as foreground color,
use air spray tool once all the way around,
settings the same as before

With border still selected add drop shadow as before,
once with H2 V2 and again with H-2 V-2

Use buttonize again or the plugin used to make square buttons

Deselect border

As background color use a brown color; I used R128 G64 B0

Add border '5' symmetric -->Select border with magic wand tool

With spray tool on woodgrain texture and
light gold as foreground, spray around border once SLOWLY

Add drop shadow with same settings as before;
first with H2 V2 and again with H-2 and V-2

Buttonize or use your own beveler plugin

Deselect border and you're done.

If this doesn't work for some reason, please let me know.
I tried hard not to leave out any steps but as a human,
I sometimes do make mistakes. :-)

Play with the colors to get what you like.
This was just what worked for me on my first attempt.
I'll be trying more color combinations too.

You can also stop at any point in this process if you see that
the image looks good to you. No set rules that you have to go
through the whole process.
